Impact Aroldis Chapman had pitched each of the prior two days, while Jonathan Loaisiga and Clay Holmes worked earlier in Monday's contest, so closing duties fell to Green. The veteran right-hander has had a couple bumpy appearances to begin the season, leaving him with a 3.48 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 10.1 innings, and his velocity (94.5 mph average fastball, down more than one mph from 2021), strikeout rate (22.7 percent, the lowest of his career) and walk rate (career-worst 9.1 percent) are all causes for concern, but the sample size is still small.

Impact Green was solid in the relief outing, throwing 15 of 22 pitches for strikes and holding the Blue Jays without a hit. However, his walk of Alejandro Kirk to begin the seventh inning came back to bite him as a one-out error and a single after Green was relieved by Jonathan Loaisiga pushed Toronto into the lead. Green has been effective in three outings thus far, allowing only one hit and one walk over three scoreless frames on the season.

Impact Green has now tossed four straight scoreless outings, and that stretch of four straight appearances giving up at least one run between Sept. 8 and Sept. 15 seems to be a distant memory now. Picks up win Monday Green (8-7) earned the win over Texas on Monday, allowing no baserunners over 1.2 scoreless innings, during which he struck out one.

Impact Green relieved starter Nestor Cortes in the fifth frame and allowed an inherited runner to score on a sacrifice fly but didn't permit any baserunners. He pitched a 1-2-3 sixth and was credited with the win as New York held on for a 4-3 victory. Green has worked exclusively out of the bullpen this year, but his eight victories are tied for third-most on the team.
