Scheduled for season-ending surgery Yelich will undergo season-ending back surgery Friday. Impact Yelich was placed on the 10-day injured list July 24 due to low-back inflammation, which has been an issue for him over the past few seasons. He was focused on rest and rehab since landing on the IL, but due to a lack of progress in his recovery, the three-time All Star has elected to undergo surgery and shift his focus to being 100% healthy for 2025. He'll end his season with a slash line of .315/.406/.504 with 21 stolen bases, 44 runs scored, 11 home runs and 42 RBI across 314 plate appearances. Gary Sanchez and Tyler Black will continue to serve in a platoon at designated hitter with Yelich sidelined for the rest of the season.
