Luis Castillo - Throws seven strong innings Castillo gave up one earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out six over seven innings in a 4-3 win over Atlanta on Sunday. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Castillo continued his solid 2022 campaign with another consistent performance that saw him throw more than 100 pitches for the sixth straight game. The workhorse didn't get the win as he was matched up against Charlie Morton, who dealt seven scoreless innings, but he did enough to keep his team in the game, and the Reds won on a walk-off single in the ninth. Castillo now has a 66:22 K:BB over 64 innings this season. Castillo is expected to make his next start Friday against Tampa Bay.

Jake Fraley - Resumes baseball activities Fraley (knee/toe) has been cleared to resume taking swings and performing light mobility work in the outfield, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Fraley should gradually increase his baseball activities over the next week before the Reds map out a rehab assignment for the 27-year-old outfielder, who hasn't played since May 27 after suffering a bone bruise to his toe. Impact Santillan may have an outside chance of making it back for the final weekend before the All-Star break if he avoids any further snags in his rehab program for his strained lower back, but given the Reds' place in the standings, it wouldn't be surprising if he was held out for the remainder of the second half. Before landing on the shelf, Santillan had recorded a save, blown save or hold in each of his final seven appearances, but he may not immediately factor into closing situations upon his return. While Santillan has been sidelined, Hunter Strickland has notched three saves in as many chances and looks to be manager David Bell's preferred closing option.

Impact Since the injury is to Garcia's glove hand, he's apparently still experiencing some pain when pitches hit the mitt, so the Reds have leaned on Michael Papierski behind the plate the past few days. Manager David Bell said that Garcia could have caught Sunday's series finale against Atlanta if needed, but the Reds decided the 29-year-old was best off getting another day off to heal. When he checks back into the lineup, Garcia should displace Papierski as the Reds' No. 1 backstop, though both will lose work once Tyler Stephenson (thumb) is activated from the injured list.
