Takes over in right field Olivares will start in right field and bat eighth Sunday against the Blue Jays. Impact Olivares was limited to a bench role in Saturday's 4-0 loss after being recalled from Triple-A Omaha earlier that day, but he should take over as the Royals' primary right fielder following the recent trade that sent Jorge Soler to Atlanta. Jarrod Dyson had started the past two games in right field, but given that he's a 36-year-old on an expiring deal along with the fact that he'll be on the bench Sunday versus a righty (Jose Berrios), the 45-58 Royals are likely more motivated to get a longer look at the 25-year-old Olivares. While he has yet to dazzle over multiple abbreviated stints in the big leagues the past two seasons, Olivares has been impressive at Omaha in 2021, slashing .322/.395/.572 with 13 home runs and 12 steals across 233 plate appearances.
