Promoted, starting Sunday Olivares was recalled from Triple-A Omaha and is starting in right field Sunday at Minnesota.

Impact The 25-year-old was unable to make the Opening Day roster but will join the big-league club for his season debut in the closing stages of May. Olivares made his major-league debut in 2020 and had a .240/.267/.375 slash line with three home runs and 10 RBI in 101 plate appearances.

Impact Olivares played a fairly considerable role on the big-league club in 2020, racking up 101 plate appearances across 31 games while hitting .240/.267/.375. However, after the team acquired Andrew Benintendi, Michael Taylor and Jarrod Dyson this offseason, his chances to earn regular playing time shrunk. Despite the demotion, Olivares should have the chance to return to the majors to contribute at various times throughout the campaign.
