Salvador Perez - Not yet ready to catch Perez (neck) will remain in the lineup Saturday against the White Sox but will serve as the designated hitter rather than the catcher, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Impact Perez exited Friday's contest with a neck contusion after getting struck by a foul boul. The Royals' initial lineup had him returning to his usual catcher position right away, but he'll spend at least one day as purely an offensive player. Cam Gallagher will enter the lineup as the catcher, with Edward Olivares getting scratched as the Royals shuffle positions around.

Adalberto Mondesi - Resting Saturday Mondesi will sit Saturday against the White Sox.

Impact The Royals were expected to be cautious with Mondesi down the stretch after he missed most of the year with hamstring and oblique injuries. That's been the case in the four days since his return from the injured list, as he's alternated between the lineup and the bench. He's already homered and stolen a pair of bases in his two appearances, showing that his talent is very much still present, but expect him to continue being handled carefully given that the Royals are out of the playoff picture.

He's more of a speed threat than a power option, and he's likely to receive regular rest days to avoid picking up another injury down the stretch.

Carlos Hernández - Earns win in quality start Hernandez (5-1) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks over six innings Friday, striking out three and earning a win over the White Sox.

Impact It was an impressive outing for Hernandez who kept the White Sox scoreless through five innings and never gave up an extra-base hit. He coughed up two runs in the sixth but his offense already tacked on seven runs in support. Over his last seven outings, the 6-foot-4 righty is 4-0 with a 1.92 ERA and a 31:10 K:BB through 42.1 frames. Hernandez is lined up to face the Orioles on the road next week.

Andrew Benintendi - Collects three hits Benintendi went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and one RBI in Friday's 7-3 victory over the White Sox.

Impact Benintendi ripped an RBI triple in the second inning and later knocked Dallas Keuchel out of the game with his leadoff double in the fourth. Since his last multi-hit effort on Aug. 22, the 27-year-old outfielder was stuck in a 5-for-40 (.125) rut with just one RBI.
