ImpactMaking his season debut after recovering from offseason hip surgery, Peterson tossed 86 pitches (57 strikes) in a solid performance and left the mound with the score tied, 3-3. The Mets are running with a six-man rotation at least until their trip to London in early June to face the Phillies, so the southpaw should get another start early next week, on the road against the Nationals. Whether Peterson remains in the rotation after that is unclear.

It was Smith's first multi-homer game of the season, and the pair of blasts gave the 29-year-old 100 for his career -- making him the fourth catcher in history to reach triple digits in a Dodgers uniform along with Mike Piazza, Roy Campanella and Steve Yeager. On the season, Smith is slashing .296/.360/.516 with nine long balls and 36 RBI through 49 contests.

Paxton will take a 3.29 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 31:28 K:BB through 52 innings into his next outing -- when he should see a more usual workload in a road start against the Pirates.

ImpactLopez allowed two earned runs in just one-third of an inning during Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers and was ejected from the game after arguing a check-swing call. The 31-year-old right-hander then tossed his glove into the stands while walking toward New York's dugout and said after the game that he has been on "the worst team in MLB." Understandably, the Mets will boot him off their 40-man roster and give other bullpen-needy teams the opportunity to claim him off waivers. Lopez owns a 3.76 ERA and 1.37 WHIP through 26.1 innings on the year.
