Sharp in rehab outing Medina (blister) struck out seven over 3.1 frames of one-run ball in a rehab start with Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Impact Medina missed the previous two weeks of action with a blister on his right index finger but didn't seem to be affected in Wednesday's outing. The Athletics have not yet committed to Medina rejoining the rotation next week, but it appears likely. He looks set up to face the Blue Jays and Rangers next week if he is indeed activated.

Making rehab apperance Wednesday Medina (finger) completed a bullpen session Sunday and is set to pitch for Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Impact Medina made it through a side session without any setbacks, paving the way for a trip to the minor leagues to continue his rehab. The right-hander landed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 21 due to a blister on his right index finger, so he may only need an appearance or two before returning.

Impact Francisco Perez is going to open the game for Oakland, but Medina is set up to handle the majority of the innings. This might just be a workload-management strategy with the 24-year-old Medina, who has delivered a 3.15 ERA with 38 strikeouts over his last 34.1 innings (six starts, one relief appearance) dating back to late June.
