Cleared to start Friday Scherzer (hamstring) said Thursday that he's been cleared to start Friday's game against the Nationals, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Impact Scherzer tweaked his hamstring late in spring training but has been participating in activities in the days leading up to the regular season. He participated in several drills Thursday and will officially be on the mound for the second game of the regular season. While Tylor Megill is starting the Mets' Opening Day matchup against Washington on Thursday, it's encouraging that Scherzer will be available as the regular season gets underway.
