Jesús Aguilar - Goes on 60-day IL The Marlins transferred Aguilar (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact The transaction is a procedural move that clears a spot on the 40-man roster for pitcher Pablo Lopez (shoulder), who was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Phillies. Aguilar was shut down for the season in early September after experiencing left knee inflammation and later undergoing arthroscopic surgery. Aguilar should be fully healthy for spring training, and he'll likely be looking to land a one- or two-year deal in free agency this winter after he hit .261 with 22 home runs and 93 RBi in 505 plate appearances before being shut down for 2021.

Pablo López - Activated for Sunday's start The Marlins activated Lopez (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact On the shelf since the All-Star break with a strained left rotator cuff, Lopez was able to make it back on the mound for the final game of the regular season after recently wrapping up a two-start rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville. Since Lopez was capped at two innings in his most recent outing Sept. 23, the Marlins presumably won't have him cover more than four frames Sunday before turning the game over to the bullpen.
