Matt Bush - Fires scoreless eighth frame Bush tossed a scoreless eighth inning in Wednesday's 7-6 victory over the Mets.

Impact Bush was not credited with a hold because Wednesday's contest was tied when he entered the game, but he was the last reliever to enter in front of closer Devin Williams, who was the pitcher of record when the Brewers walked off with the win in the bottom of the ninth inning. Bush had a rough start to the exhibition season, but he closed out the spring with two scoreless appearances and has matched that since the real games began. Based on early bullpen usage, consider Bush the setup man in Milwaukee.

Garrett Mitchell - Walks it off against Mets Mitchell went 1-for-2 with a walkoff solo home run in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Mets.

Impact He wasn't in the starting lineup, but Mitchell came on as a pinch hitter for Mike Brosseau in the sixth inning and remained in the game, giving him a chance to play hero in the ninth. Mitchell is enjoying a great start to the season, batting .300 (6-for-20) through six games with three homers, five RBI and six runs, but as yet the 24-year-old speedster hasn't stolen a base after going 8-for-8 on the basepaths last year in only 28 big-league games.

Impact Getting the start in center field and hitting ninth, Wiemer crushed his first career homer off David Peterson in the second inning, driving the ball the opposite way over the wall in right field. Impact Seeing his first action since April 1 as he was afforded some extra rest due to a bicep bruise, Williams shut down New York on only nine pitches (five strikes), putting him in the right place to get the win when Garrett Mitchell launched a walkoff homer. After recording a career-high 15 saves last season with Josh Hader shipped to the Padres, Williams and his Airbender changeup figure to shatter than mark in 2023.

Corbin Burnes - Escapes with no-decision Wednesday Burnes didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Mets, coughing up six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

Impact Five of the seven hits went for extra bases, including two homers by Pete Alonso, but Burnes was quickly taken off the hook for a loss after exiting when Milwaukee tied the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Aaron Ashby - Headed for shoulder surgery Brewers manager Craig Counsell announced Wednesday that Ashby needs arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Impact The procedure is scheduled for Friday and could knock Ashby out for the entire year. He was placed on the 15-day injured list just before Opening Day after being diagnosed with an impingement and slight labral tear back in late February. The initial hope was that the 24-year-old southpaw might be able to join the Brewers by mid-May, but treatment and rest failed to solve the issue. Milwaukee will likely soon move him to the 60-day IL.
