Mike Brosseau - Slugs two-run homer in lossBrosseau went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Thursday's loss against the Pirates.

ImpactBrosseau gave the Brewers a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run shot off Pirates starter Zach Thompson. The third baseman has collected a hit in four of his last six appearances and is slashing .364/.462/.727 during that stretch.

Victor Caratini - Slugs eighth homer in lossCaratini went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.

ImpactCaratini saw himself elevated to the No. 1 catcher recently after Pedro Severino was designated for assignment and Omar Narvaez (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day IL. The switch hitter wasted no time taking advantage of the increased role by cracking his eighth home run of the season, this one off Pirates starter Zach Thompson.

Matt Bush - Back-to-back poor outings with MILBush (0-1) blew the save and took the loss in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh. He allowed two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out zero over one-third of an inning.

ImpactBush came on in the bottom of the 10th with a one-run lead, but he immediately blew the save by serving up an RBI double to Bryan Reynolds on the first pitch of the inning. After two intentional walks and a flyout to right field, Bush threw a wild, 0-2 curveball to Michael Chavis in the dirt, resulting in a walk-off win for the Pirates. In two appearances with Milwaukee, Bush has surrendered four hits, four runs (three earned) and two walks across 1.1 innings.

Jakson Reetz - Added to 40-man rosterThe Brewers selected Reetz's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday and optioned him to the affiliate.

ImpactThe transaction makes Reetz the fifth catcher on the Brewers' 40-man roster after Milwaukee lost some organizational depth when Pedro Severino was designated for assignment. Reetz received a promotion from Double-A Biloxi shortly before the All-Star break and has slashed .229/.283/.479 in 13 games since joining Nashville.

Brandon Woodruff - Takes no-decisionWoodruff did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on eight hits and three walks over 6.1 innings in a 5-4 loss to the Pirates. He struck out three.

ImpactWoodruff struggled with his command in the second inning, throwing a wild pitch to allow Greg Allen to advance to third before the baserunner ultimately scored on a passed ball by Victor Caratini. The right-hander settled down and recorded four scoreless frames before he allowed three of the first four hitters to reach in the seventh inning, including an RBI single by Tucupita Marcano. Woodruff was tagged with another earned run when Brad Boxberger allowed one of his inherited runners to score on a Ben Gamel single. Since a stint on the IL, Woodruff has posted a 2.18 ERA across seven starts (41.1 innings), but the ace has walked multiple batters in four of his last five outings.

Pedro Severino - Outrighted off rosterSeverino cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

ImpactSeverino looked set to serve as the Brewers' backup catcher this season but missed the first 80 games of the year due to a PED suspension. He played infrequently upon his return and was designated for assignment Wednesday after going 4-for-18 at the plate.
