Emmanuel Rodriguez - Begins rehab assignment Rodriguez (thumb) began a rehab assignment with Minnesota's FCL team and went 4-for-6 with three doubles in his first game games Friday and Saturday.

Impact Rodriguez sustained a thumb injury June 5 while sliding into second base on a double. The 21-year-old prospect had been tearing it up in Double-A this season, slashing .298/.479/.621 with eight home runs and 20 RBI over 167 plate appearances.

Matt Wallner - Officially called up The Twins recalled Wallner from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact The 26-year-old was demoted to St. Paul in mid-April after going 2-for-25 with 17 strikeouts to begin the campaign for the Twins, and he struggled early on at Triple-A with a .465 OPS in his first 11 games. Wallner turned things around from there and is now rejoining the Twins after he posted a 1.143 OPS with 12 homers in 29 games for St. Paul since June 1. Minnesota's starting outfield of Trevor Larnach, Byron Buxton and Max Kepler are currently healthy, so Wallner may not come by regular starting opportunities.

Austin Martin - Out with oblique strain The Twins placed Martin on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a strained right oblique, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact It's unclear when the 25-year-old suffered the oblique strain, but he hasn't played much in July with just six plate appearances through the first week of the month. Martin will be eligible to return for the start of the second half July 20. Matt Wallner was called up in a corresponding move to provide Minnesota with some outfield depth.
