Impact Left-hander Josh Walker was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take Diaz's spot on the 26-man active roster and in the New York bullpen. After blowing ninth-inning leads in four of his last five appearances, Diaz had already been expected to get a break from closing duties, and his injury will only further delay his opportunity to resurface as the Mets' preferred ninth-inning man. Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino likely represent the best bets for saves out of the Mets bullpen while Diaz is on the shelf.

Vientos should continue to regularly replace the lefty-hitting Baty when the Mets face lefties, but the distribution of starts at third base between the two against right-handed pitching still looks to be up in the air. Baty has helped his cause by getting on base five times in 12 plate appearances over his last three starts, but Vientos owns a 1.085 OPS since his May 15 call-up from Triple-A Syracuse to keep himself in the mix for starts against righties.

Impact The Mets moved Adrian Houser to the bullpen over the weekend to make room in the rotation for Peterson, who will be making his 2024 debut for the big club after spending the first two months of the season on the IL while he completed his recovery from Nov. 6 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. Despite his success during the rehab assignment, fantasy managers may want to tread carefully with Peterson in his first start with the Mets since he'll be facing off against a Dodgers lineup that ranks second in baseball with a .333 wOBA.
