Impact Alonso was held hitless in the series opener in Colorado on Friday, but he was able to find his power swing again Saturday. This was his third homer in his last five games, and he's the first in the majors to 20 long balls this season. The first baseman is slashing .239/.339/.558 with 46 RBI and 37 runs scored as one of baseball's top power hitters.

Justin Verlander - Rough outing in Colorado Verlander allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Saturday.
Impact Verlander left the game in line for the loss before the Mets rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning. This is the second time in five starts that Verlander's allowed six runs but he's also had a pair of very good starts and one average one after missing the first month-plus of the season with a shoulder strain. The 40-year-old is at a 4.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB across 30 innings. He's lined up for a home start versus the Blue Jays.

Impact Ottavino put together a second straight scoreless outing after giving up three runs in 0.2 innings against Cleveland on May 21. While the veteran has had several solid outings this year, his inflated 4.58 ERA is largely due to three rough outings this month, in which he gave up multiple runs in each one. The right-hander needs to string together more scoreless efforts before being considered a completely reliable option.

Impact Scherzer has been dealing ever since struggling against the Tigers on May 3, when he coughed up six runs in 3.1 innings. The future Hall of Famer has allowed just two runs combined across his three starts since then, and appears to be finally settled in after dealing with a 10-day suspension and neck spasms over the last few weeks. The right-hander is tentatively slated to face the Phillies at home in his next start.
