Tim Locastro - Needs surgery for thumb tear Mets manager Buck Showalter announced Tuesday that Locastro will require surgery to repair the torn UCL in his right thumb, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact Locastro suffered the injury last week, just as he was nearing the end of his recovery from a back issue. He has already been moved to the 60-day IL and there is currently no estimated timetable for his return.

He's been getting extra rest between every start this season as he acclimates from the scheduling norms over in Nippon Professional Baseball. There are no injury concerns with the 30-year-old right-hander, who racked up a career-high 12 strikeouts across six innings of one-run ball last week against the Rays. He'll face the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday, with Tylor Megill getting the call Tuesday. Senga will then handle the Mets' series opener next week versus the Phillies.

Lindor is picking up the pace at the plate, and over the last 15 games he's slashing .277/.309/.431 with two of his seven homers on the year.
