Impact Ramirez hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2021, but the 33-year-old southpaw was showing a 1.74 ERA through 10.1 innings this season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He can give the Yankees a fresh left-handed bullpen arm.

Impact Ramirez owns a 5.75 ERA in 20.1 major-league innings this season, the last of which came back in early July. His 5.23 ERA over 41.1 frames at the Triple-A level isn't much better. He'll exit the 40-man roster as the Padres add Vince Velasquez ahead of his scheduled start against the Cardinals.

Impact The transaction clears a spot on the active roster for infielder Adam Frazier, whom the team officially acquired Monday in a trade with the Pirates. Impact Ramirez will give the Padres some extra coverage out of the bullpen after the team used five relievers to cover nine innings in Saturday's 7-5 win. The 31-year-old southpaw previously made seven relief appearances for San Diego, giving up six earned runs on 12 hits and four walks over 10.2 innings.
