Nick Yorke - Moved to Pittsburgh The Pirates acquired Yorke from the Red Sox on Monday in exchange for right-hander Quinn Priester, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Impact Though Yorke was regarded as one of the Red Sox's top position prospects, he had lost some sheen over the past couple of years while his performance had dipped between stops at High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland. Yorke had gotten off to an underwhelming start to the current season at Portland, but he had started to turn some heads again after getting a promotion in early June to Triple-A Worcester, where he posted a .317/.414/.497 slash line with six home runs and six steals in 169 plate appearances while splitting time between second base and left field. Despite showing improvement with the bat at Triple-A, Yorke's long-term path to playing time in Boston was still somewhat blocked, but he should have a greater opportunity to eventually settle into an everyday role with a Pittsburgh organization that's comparatively lacking in established bats at the big-league level. Look for Yorke to report to Triple-A Indianapolis initially, but it wouldn't be surprising if he receive his first big-league call-up later in 2024.
