Randy Dobnak, Devin Smeltzer won't be back with Twins any time soon Randy Dobnak and Devin Smeltzer were moved to the 60-day injured list to free up two spots on the 40-man roster.
Transferred to 60-day IL The Twins transferred Dobnak (finger) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact An early-July setback delayed Dobnak's throwing program and he will now be eligible to return from his right middle finger strain no sooner than August 24. The move to the 60-day IL allowed the Twins to add bullpen arm Beau Burrows on Saturday. Updates about Dobnak's recovery and throwing progression should come in the next couple weeks.

Impact Dobnak was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right middle finger strain on June 21. There doesn't seem to be a clear timetable for his return. It's bad timing as Minnesota's depth issues among starting pitching would otherwise likely give him a regular spot in the rotation. As the Twins look toward 2022 with the playoffs nearly out of reach, Dobnak could be given a long look in the second half of the season when healthy.
