Impact Soto isn't known to run much, but he's logged four steals to go with five home runs, 10 RBI and 14 runs scored over 13 games in September. He's hit safely in 10 of his contests this month, going 13-for-48 (.271) with eight walks. The star outfielder is slashing .262/.401/.493 with 30 home runs, 90 RBI, 85 runs scored and 10 steals through 148 games this season, putting him five games shy of matching his career high from a year ago.

Impact This was his fifth quality start in his last six outings, the exception being his road start in Houston last Saturday. Lugo gave up multiple home runs for just the fourth time this year, but they were solo shots from Shea Langeliers and Brent Rooker. He reportedly hasn't suffered a setback, but the Padres instead have opted to take a conservative approach given that they've fallen out of playoff contention. Impact Choi initially landed on the injured list Aug. 14 due to a left rib strain, but his stay was extended after he suffered a fractured ankle during a rehab game at Triple-A El Paso. Luckily, Choi was cleared to resume playing relatively quickly, and he will return to San Diego after going 4-for-25 with an RBI and a run scored through seven rehab games. Matt Carpenter (elbow) was placed on the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.
