He's given up three or more runs in four of his last five outings, raising his season ERA to 3.48. DeSclafani has registered a 5.22 ERA during that five-game span after posting a 2.13 ERA through his first six outings. Joc Pederson - Cleared to take swings Pederson (hand) said he will swing the bat Monday for the first time since landing on the 10-day injured list May 15, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact A painful right hand contusion has kept Pederson out of commission for the past two weeks, but being able to resume swinging represents a major milestone in his recovery process. Depending on how Pederson fares in his workouts over the next few days, he could be cleared to head out on a rehab assignment as soon as this weekend, if the Giants determine that he requires one. While Pederson has been on the shelf, the Giants have been leaning on J.D. Davis and Blake Sabol as their primary options at designated hitter.

Joey Bart - Close to starting rehab assignment Bart (groin) said that he's scheduled to resume baserunning drills Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Bart noted that he's already been taking part in all baseball activities with the exception of running the bases, so assuming he avoids any setbacks with his injured list groin Tuesday, he could get the green light to begin a minor-league rehab assignment later in the week. Patrick Bailey was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on May 19 when Bart was placed on the 10-day IL and has been operating as the Giants' primary backstop for the past week and a half.

Austin Slater - Back from injured list Slated was activated from the 10-day injured list by the Giants on Monday.

Impact Slater wound up missing about two-and-a-half weeks of action with a left hamstring strain. He played in one rehab game over the weekend which was evidently enough to convince the Giants he was ready. Slater will go back to playing regularly against left-handed pitching.

Tristan Beck - Heads back to Sacramento The Giants optioned Beck to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Impact Outfielder Austin Slater (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will join the active roster as a replacement for Beck, who was expendable since the Giants already have three other relievers on hand capable of covering multiple innings in Ryan Walker, Jakob Junis and Sean Manaea. Beck will presumably slot back into the Sacramento rotation after he looked sharp over his final three extended relief appearances with the Giants, covering nine innings and allowing just one run on two hits and no walks while striking out 10.

Blake Sabol - Lifts three-run blast Sabol went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Brewers.

Impact Sabol entered Sunday 0-for-17 over his last four games, with a 1:7 BB:K in that span. It took him until the seventh inning to snap the drought, with his homer being his first since April 29. While the bat has cooled off a bit since Patrick Bailey took over the primary catching duties, Sabol is still getting in the lineup regularly at designated hitter and occasionally in left field. Impact Cobb walked multiple batters for the fourth time over his past five starts and surrendered a season-high seven runs. Coming into the contest, the right-hander had been excellent, sporting a 2.17 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 52:14 K:BB across 10 appearances (58 innings), so it's safe to chalk Sunday's outing up as an outlier. The 35-year-old's role in the Giants rotation is solidified as long as he's healthy, and his next start is tentatively scheduled during a three-game weekend set versus Baltimore.
