Jonathan Lucroy vetoes trade to the Cleveland Indians
Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has exercised his veto power to block a trade to the Cleveland Indians, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The trade was agreed to by the teams on Saturday and would have sent four players to Milwaukee in exchange for the two-time All-star Lucroy.
But Lucroy had the Indians on his short list of teams he could block a trade to and took that action on Sunday morning.
Lucroy, 30, is batting .300 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI this season.
The Indians stayed busy on Sunday, pulling off a trade for New York Yankees All-Star reliever Andrew Miller.

For #Indians to rip up Lucroy’s ’17 option, as @jeffpassan reports, trade would need to be redone. CLE wouldn’t give up same package.

#Indians source on Lucroy: “We’ve moved on.”

Sources: Lucroy rejected trade over concerns about playing time in 2017, as @BNightengale said. #Indians did not offer financial inducement.

2017 is Lucroy’s free-agent season. Yan Gomes is under contract with #Indians. Did not want to risk losing playing time.
