Mariners will trade Wade Miley to the Orioles pending a physical
The Baltimore Orioles made a move to bolster their rotation Sunday by agreeing to a trade with the Seattle Mariners for starting pitcher Wade Miley.
Miley, 29, is having his worst season in the majors with a 7-8 record and a 4.98 ERA, but he’s started 19 games this season and at least 32 in each of the past four years. He adds a needed left-hander to the Orioles’ rotation and can eat up innings.
Miley was an all-star in his first season as a regular starter with the Diamondbacks in 2012, but his ERA has gone up every season since, from 3.33 in 2012 to 3.55 (2013), 4.34 (2014) and 4.46 (2015).
After three-plus seasons with Arizona, he pitched for the Red Sox in 2015 and then was traded to Seattle in the offseason.
Miley is signed through the 2018 season, but the goal is for him to give the Orioles an edge in their three-way battle for first place in the AL East with the Blue Jays and Red Sox. Baltimore leads Toronto by a half-game and Boston by two games after beating the Blue Jays on Sunday.
#Orioles getting Miley, per @JonHeyman - pending review of medicals. No small thing with O’s, as history as shown.

Miranda, 27, has a 3.93 ERA in 19 GS at AAA. Also made one appearance for #Orioles. Signed out of Cuba in 2015. Only player in deal.
