Impact Thompson appeared as though he might get a look in an everyday role to begin the season with top center fielder Leody Taveras (oblique) on the inured list, but Thompson has instead handled a reserve role for the entirety of Texas' three-game series with Philadelphia. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy may not even be viewing the righty-hitting Thompson as a short-side platoon player, as the 24-year-old will continue to ride pine Sunday even with a southpaw (Bailey Falter) on the mound for Philadelphia. Mitch Garver - Goes yard twice in big win Garver went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and six RBI in Saturday's 16-3 rout of the Phillies.

Impact After slugging a three-run shot in the fifth inning off Yunior Marte, Garver did it again in the seventh, this time off Seranthony Dominguez. The power display isn't a surprise, as Garver hit 23 homers in 122 games over the last two seasons with a .233/.330/.463 slash line, but the more important development for his fantasy value was the fact that he was able to play a full game behind the plate Saturday. If the 32-year-old regains catcher eligibility after being limited to 14 games at the position last year due to injuries, his offensive profile becomes a lot more palatable.

Semien's 26 homers in 2022 were a bit of a disappointment after his 45-homer campaign the year before, but he made up for it with a career-high 25 steals. With one home run and one steal through the first two games of 2023, the 32-year-old could be a threat to deliver a 30/30 season.

Nathan Eovaldi - Gets plenty of support in win Eovaldi (1-0) picked up the win Saturday, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over five innings in a 16-3 rout of the Phillies. He struck out six.

Impact The right-hander wasn't at his sharpest, throwing 49 of 83 pitches for strikes, but Eovaldi got all the run support he could have asked for. The 33-year-old has posted an ERA between 3.72 and 3.87 and a WHIP between 1.19 and 1.23 in each of the last three seasons, an impressive run of consistency, but after making only 20 starts in 2022 it's Eovaldi's ability to stay healthy that will be the biggest driver of his fantasy value. His next outing is scheduled for next weekend on the road against the Cubs.
