Ernie Clement - Drives in three against Yankees Clement went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and three RBI in Friday's win over the Yankees.

Impact Getting the start at third base and batting sixth, Clement delivered his fourth multi-hit performance in the last eight games. The 28-year-old old utility player has become a fixture at the hot corner thanks to a .281/.307/.448 slash line since the beginning of July with three homers, two steals, nine runs and 18 RBI in 26 contests.

Impact Getting the start at DH and batting fourth, Horwitz poked RBI singles in the third and sixth innings as part of an 8-5 victory. The 26-year-old has seen his production tail off of late -- he sports a .220/.267/.317 slash line over his last 10 games -- but with Joey Loperfido getting a look as the full-time left fielder and Davis Schneider back in the mix at second base as a result, Horwitz could DH more often and not be stretched defensively at the keystone, allowing him to focus on his offensive contributions.

Impact The 25-year-old has had a quick start to his Jays tenure, going 3-for-10 in two games since being traded from the Astros. Loperfido has started both games for his new squad in left field, but he could shift to center on occasion when Daulton Varsho needs a breather. On the season, Loperfido's slashing .241/.299/.371 with just two homers in 40 big-league games, but he'll get more consistent playing time in Toronto down the stretch and get a chance to replicate something closer to his minor-league numbers -- in 71 career games for Triple-A Sugar Land, he has a .256/.352/.498 slash line with 18 home runs and 13 steals.

Brian Serven - Drives in two in Friday's start Serven went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in Friday's 8-5 win over the Yankees.

Impact Batting ninth and getting another start behind the plate while Alejandro Kirk nurses a bruised elbow, Serven came through with a two-run single in the third inning. The hits and RBI were the 29-year-old's first since he was added back to the big-league roster July 28 following the Danny Jansen trade, but with Kirk not expected to miss much more time, Serven will likely return to the bench before the weekend is over.

Chad Green - Dominates Yankees for eighth save Green struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in an 8-5 win over the Yankees.

Impact Facing the top of New York's order, Green needed 16 pitches to sit down Alex Verdugo, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge in a very impressive performance. The right-hander appears set as the Blue Jays' closer for the rest of the season unless Jordan Romano is able to make a late return from arthroscopic surgery on his elbow, and Green has earned the role by posting a 1.84 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through 14.2 innings since the beginning of July while converting all six of his save chances.

Kevin Gausman - Escapes from Bronx with no-decision Gausman came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 win over the Yankees, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

Impact Two-run homers by Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe accounted for most of the damage off Gausman, as the 33-year-old right-hander saw his three-start win streak snapped. He exited after 4.2 innings and 93 pitches, and it perhaps shouldn't have been surprising that Gausman would take a step back after tossing a complete game July 27 against the Rangers, especially considering how inconsistent he's been in 2024. He'll take 4.56 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 119:36 K:BB through 124.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Orioles.
