Impact Castro swatted a double in the bottom of the first inning Sunday, and he gave the Nationals a brief lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the third to put the team's only run of the game on the board. The 31-year-old has recorded hits in each of the last seven games, and he's gone 10-for-21 with a home run, two doubles, seven RBI and five runs during that time.

Joe Ross - Whiffs 11 in loss Ross (5-8) allowed three runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out 11 in 6.2 innings to take the loss against the Dodgers on Sunday.
Impact Ross had earned wins in three of his last four outings and racked up a season-high 11 strikeouts Sunday, but he was forced to settle for the loss as the Nationals mustered just one run in the series finale against the Dodgers. Although the right-hander took his eighth loss of the season Sunday, he's now posted quality starts in five of his last six outings, and he's recorded a 2.31 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 39 innings during that time. Ross tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against San Francisco on Friday.

Impact The catcher was responsible for all three of Washington's runs in the contest, slugging a three-run homer off Clayton Kershaw in the fourth inning. The long ball was his eighth of the season and pushed his RBI total to 30. Gomes has been heating up of late, batting .364 (8-for-22) with three doubles and four RBI over his past seven games.

Impact The right-hander induced only four swinging strikes and walked more batters (three) than he struck out (two), but he made it through the outing with a no-decision. All of the damage against Espino came in the fourth inning, when Los Angeles plated three runs on two hits, two walks and two sacrifice flies. Espino returned to the mound for the fourth frame and got one out but was replaced after a one-hour, 44-minute rain delay. He's pitched mostly in relief this season, and it remains to be seen if he'll head back to the bullpen or be given the opportunity to make another start.
