Impact Even though three of the five runs Peralta allowed were unearned, his performance wasn't really encouraging. Peralta has given up at least five runs in three of his last four starts, though he has also given up two or fewer earned runs in his last two appearances. A few inconsistencies aside, he's been pitching well this season and owns a 3.48 ERA across 51.2 innings in 2021. That figure would represent a career-best mark for him.

Solid in no-decision Peralta allowed two runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts through 4.2 innings, taking a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

Impact Peralta needed 46 pitches to get through the first two innings Tuesday, but after allowing an unearned run in the first and a solo homer to Hunter Renfroe in the second, the right-hander settled in to subdue a potent Boston order. For a guy who allowed 11 runs in his previous two starts, one earned run through 4.2 innings can't be seen as a bad thing. However, he needed 96 pitches to get through the outing and walked the final two batters that he faced. He now has multiple walks in five straight starts and has not struck out more than four since punching out six Texas Rangers on July 5.

Impact Peralta was far from sharp, but he avoided the loss thanks a 17-run outburst by the offense. That doesn't cover up the red flags from the righty's last two starts, as he's been tagged for 11 earned runs across nine innings of work. Peralta has seen his ERA climb from 1.64 to 3.64 in the process. He'll look to get back on track in his next scheduled outing Tuesday against the Red Sox, though the tough opponent doesn't offer a reprieve for the 32-year-old.

Third start coming Wednesday Peralta is scheduled to start Wednesday's series finale in Cleveland, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Impact Detroit will likely be looking for Peralta to provide more length in his third start of the season after he was essentially deployed in a tandem with Kyle Funkhouser in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Astros. In the Tigers' 3-2 loss, Peralta tossed 2.2 scoreless frames before giving way to Funkhouser, who followed with 2.1 scoreless innings of his own. The Tigers are expected to be without Matthew Boyd (triceps) and Spencer Turnbull (forearm) through the All-Star break, so Peralta should have some longevity in the rotation if he can merely perform adequately in his future starts.
