Fifth-Place in Xfinity 500 Hamlin finished fifth in the Xfinity 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Impact Hamlin would have to overcome the handicap of starting in the rear of the field thanks to his practice crash on Saturday at Martinsville. The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran would patiently work his way through the 37-car field and land inside the Top 5 by the conclusion of stage 2. Hamlin would battle it out among the leaders in the closing laps but could only manage fifth-place by the checkered flag. He would be eliminated from the NASCAR playoffs as a result.
