Not running full-time with FRM Gilliland will only run 30 races in 2023 behind the wheel of the No. 38 Ford for Front Row Motorsports after the team decided to put Zane Smith in that car for six events this seas... Impact When Zane Smith signed back on to defend his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title in 2023, it was announced that the team would look to get him some Cup Series starts. He will attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500 in the No. 36 car, but the team kind of did Gilliland dirty by announcing right before the start of the season that he will not drive in all the races for the team. Instead of running that open No. 36 car, FRM decided to take Gilliland out of the seat of their chartered No. 38 car in races at Phoenix (March 12), Talladega (April 23), Charlotte (May 28), Sonoma (June 11), Texas (Sept. 24), and Charlotte Roval (Oct. 8). If Gilliland were to win a race in the No. 38 car he would be ineligible to make the playoffs, unless he is able to find another ride for those six races. Some potential options would be the No. 15 for Rick Ware Racing or the No. 78 for Live Fast Motorsports, as both cars have had a rotation of drivers for the last few years.
