Impact Jordan Poole led the Wizards in scoring Thursday, and even though Kuzma had enough touches to deliver a strong showing, he wasn't efficient from the field and missed 10 of his 16 shots. Even though Kuzma's scoring numbers tend to be based more on volume rather than efficient, the forward is too talented to shoot like this on a regular basis. There's a strong chance there might have been some rust in his season debut.

Impact Kuzma was one of two starters who scored in double digits Friday, with Jordan Poole being the other, and that will probably be the case in the regular season as well, with both players leading the team in scoring on a regular basis. Kuzma's shooting numbers in the preseason have been poor, but he's likely most of his fantasy production based on volume rather than efficiency. Shooting woes aside, he should be one of the few consistent fantasy options in a subpar Wizards roster that figures to finish near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings once again.

Impact The Wizards need Kuzma to be at his best once the regular season begins if they want to have any shot at improving following a dreadful 2023-24 campaign, and even though preseason stats should be taken with a grain of salt, this performance was certainly subpar. Kuzma averaged a career-best 22.2 points per game in 2023-24 and has scored at least 20 points per game in each of his last two campaigns in The Association.

Despite some holes in his skill set, Kuzma should be able to flirt with top-100 value this season, at least until the Wizards lean into their youth come February.
