The point guard is entering his third NBA season and, after showing out in Las Vegas, could be a candidate to have his two-way contract converted into a standard deal. Pippen and the Grizzlies will face the winner of Golden State vs Miami in the Summer League Championship on Monday.

Impact Pippen has turned some heads during his third Summer League stint and is certainly making a case to be the Grizzlies backup point guard behind Ja Morant. Pippen and GG Jackson combined for 52 of Memphis' 104 points, while Pippen's nine assists led the team.

Impact Pippen's defense and ability to get a bucket were on display Monday, and he and Keyonte George provided a thrilling Summer League matchup. Pippen got solid playing time due to a litany of injuries while on a two-way pact with the Grizzlies last season, during which he averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals across 25.1 minutes. The 23-year-old also shot 49.3 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from deep, and he could prove to be a valuable backup option for the Grizzlies this upcoming year.

Impact Pippen came into the NBA on a two-way deal with the Lakers in 2022 before joining the Grizzlies on a two-way contract this January. Friday's performance against his former squad included a career-best scoring total along with four steals, which tied his career-high mark. Pippen has blossomed over his past five contests, averaging 20.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.2 steals.

Impact Pippen returned Friday after missing the previous three games with a left bruised shin, leading all bench players in the contest in scoring while swiping a team-high steals total to provide a spark on on the second unit in a narrow victory. Pippen posted his second-highest point total of the season, coming up one point shy of tying his season high of 19 points which was recorded Feb. 2 against Boston. Impact Back in action after missing the Grizzlies' previous 12 games with a lumbar disc bulge, Pippen stepped into the starting five and came through with excellent production for those that used him in DFS lineups or streamed him for assists in season-long leagues. If Pippen can stick in a 25-plus-minute starting gig, he would have some appeal in 12-team leagues, but his game-to-game role will most likely be highly volatile. Both Pippen and fellow point guard Jordan Goodwin -- who played 19 minutes Wednesday -- are on two-way deals, and both are eligible to be active for only a limited number of games the rest of the season. As a result, Pippen and/or Goodwin could wind up being healthy inactives for certain games down the stretch, making them risky options. Moreover, Desmond Bane (ankle) looks to be closing in on a return, and though he typically plays on the wing, he could siphon away some playmaking responsibilities from Pippen.
