The recent returns of Rui Hachimura and Thomas Bryant has created more crowding in the Washington frontcourt, so Bertans could end up finding himself as the odd man out for a rotation spot. Before he was sidelined for Saturday's loss to the Trail Blazers with a left foot sprain, Bertans had been holding down a bit role on the second unit. Impact Though Beal hasn't yet cleared the protocols, the Wizards' decision to bump him up from "out" to "questionable" on the official injury report suggests he'll have a chance to do so prior to the game's 2 p.m. tipoff. Beal has missed the Wizards' last three games while in the protocols, so even if he's cleared to play, there's a chance head coach Wes Unseld Jr. could look to restrict his minutes to some extent while he works to regain conditioning.

Impact Gafford's fantasy relevancy may soon be coming to an end, as the return of Thoms Bryant and the excellent play from Montrezl Harrell may render the big man at the bottom of the depth chart. Although Bryant's impact was minimal in Saturday's loss, he's expected to get his starting role back when he is at 100 percent, and Harrell has outperformed Gafford in a reserve role on a regular basis.

Impact It's puzzling that Kyle Kuzma's odds of winning the league's Most Improved Player award aren't higher. His departure from Los Angeles to his new home has completely transformed his game. After Bradley Beal (COVID-19), Kuzma is the top producer for the Wizards, and his 18 double-doubles earn him a league rank of 16th in the category.

Impact It wasn't an overly remarkable game for Gafford, who provided fantasy managers with two more blocks, but it's worth noting that he saw only 16 minutes -- his fewest in any game since Dec. 5 -- as Thomas Bryant (knee) made his long-awaited return from a torn ACL. Bryant saw only 11 minutes of action off the bench, but that number figures to gradually creep up as he builds up his confidence and conditioning. With Rui Hachimura also back from an extended personal absence, Gafford's workload will be worth monitoring closely over the next several games. If he ends up in the 15-to-20-minute range on most nights, fantasy managers may have to consider cutting bait.
