Impact Whitworth suffered a torn MCL and a damaged PCL during Sunday's win over the Seahawks. While it's a severe injury, the Rams view this as positive news considered it could've been worse (his ACL is intact). There's a chance the 38-year-old lineman can return before the end of the season, specifically for a potential playoff run. For the time being, Joe Noteboom is expected to start at left tackle.

May return in 2020 Whitworth could return this season after suffering a torn MCL in Sunday's win over the Seahawks, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Impact Whitworth has been placed on IR and won't be eligible until Week 14 against the Patriots, and it's possible he isn't available until even later in the season. Still, the Rams believe the veteran tackle will return at some point this year, perhaps for a playoff run now that they're in the mix. Rob Havenstein is expected to bump to left tackle for the time being while Bobby Evans slots in at the right tackle position.

Impact A silver lining with this news is that Whitworth's ACL is intact, though he also sustained some damage to his PCL in addition to tearing his MCL. The earliest Whitworth could return would be Week 14 against the Patriots, but he's likely to be out longer than the minimum three weeks required with an IR stint.
