Catches onto active roster The Giants signed Olszewski to their active roster Saturday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Impact Olszewski joined the Giants' practice squad Monday, just two days after being let go by the Steelers. Duggan reports that Olszewski is set to take over as the primary punt returner.

Impact Just two days after being released by Pittsburgh, Olszewski has already found another opportunity with the Giants. However, barring an injury, it doesn't seem like the Giants will be pressed to elevate Olszewski any time soon.

Impact No surprise here, as Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com previously reported this transaction was expected. Olszewski's exit will presumably open up a roster spot for fellow pass catcher Diontae Johnson (hamstring) to be activated off IR ahead of Week 7. Olszewski was primarily used as a returner during his two games on the 53-man roster.

Impact Since Chase Claypool was traded to the Bears on Nov. 1, Olszewski and Steven Sims have essentially shared the No. 3 receiver role while Diontae Johnson and George Pickens have led the position group. In the three games that have followed, Sims has played 84 snaps on offense, while Olszewski has logged 72. In that span, Olszewksi has recorded 52 total yards on four touches (three catches, one carry).
