Impact After being limited by the calf injury at Wednesday's practice, Conley was fully involved during Thursday's session, clearing the way for him to play this weekend against the Dolphins. The Texans are expected to get top quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) back from injured reserve this weekend to step back into the starting role in place of rookie Davis Mills, but the change under center likely won't dramatically improve Conley's outlook. Conley hasn't drawn more than four targets in any of his seven appearances this season.

Davis Mills - Returning to backup duty Mills' teammate, Tyrod Taylor (hamstring), is in line to start Sunday's game against the Dolphins, The Athletic reports.
Impact Mills had been handling the team's QB duties since Taylor was injured Week 2, and since then he's passed for 1,357 yards, with seven TDs and eight picks. The 2021 third-rounder will revert to a backup role now that Taylor is in line to come off IR, while Jeff Driskel will serve as the team's No. 3 signal-caller. Deshaun Watson remains on Houston's roster but has been made inactive on game days by the team all season.

Tyrod Taylor - Set to return in Week 9 Coach David Culley confirmed Thursday that Taylor (hamstring) will start Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
Impact Culley noted that Taylor has suffered no setbacks with his hamstring injury, which sets the stage for the veteran QB to be officially activated off IR in advance of Sunday's contest. As a result, Davis Mills, who had been starting in Taylor's place, will revert to a backup role. In his looming return to action, Taylor -- who last suited up in Week 2 -- will be facing a 1-7 Miami defense that has allowed an average of 291.1 passing yards per game to date. Only the Ravens (296.1) have allowed more.

Impact Conley was previously dealing with a neck injury, and it's unknown when he picked up the calf injury. Getting in a limited practice this early in the week is a positive sign for his availability Sunday against the Dolphins. Conley has moved down the depth chart as Danny Amendola and Nico Collins have regained health, but still has been getting 40 percent or more of the snaps. If Conley was unable to play Sunday Chris Moore would likely take on a larger role.

Pharaoh Brown - Misses practice Wednesday Brown (thigh) did not participate in practice Wednesday.
Impact Brown missed the Texans' Week 8 game against the Rams after getting injured in practice. Brown will try to hit the practice field Thursday, but if he can't his Week 9 status against the Dolphins will definitely be in Jeopardy. Should Brown miss Week 9, Jordan Akins and more so Brevin Jordan will step into larger roles.

Impact After Houston failed to find a team willing to meet its asking price for Watson ahead of the Nov. 2 trade deadline, the quarterback looks poised to sit out the remainder of the 2021 season. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues who had been stashing Watson with the hope that he was dealt elsewhere can feel free to move on, as the Texans appear committed to keep him inactive for their remaining nine games. Watson hasn't practiced with the team since the conclusion of the preseason.

Rex Burkhead - Reps capped Wednesday Burkhead (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Impact Burkhead was a regular on Houston injury reports throughout October due to the hip issue, but he only missed one game -- a Week 5 loss to New England -- because of it. In the aftermath of the Oct. 27 trade that sent lead back Mark Ingram to New Orleans, Burkhead stepped into his largest role of the season in the Texans' 38-22 loss to the Rams in Week 8, playing 28 of 58 offensive snaps (48 percent) while taking four carries for 21 yards and a touchdown and hauling in three of four targets for 27 yards. The hip injury shouldn't stop Burkhead from playing this Sunday in Miami, but he won't be a lock to pace the Houston backfield in snaps and touches like he did in Week 8 if Houston is able to stay more competitive against the 1-7 Dolphins. Burkhead didn't pick up a carry or record a reception until the fourth quarter of last week's contest, when the Texans entered the final 15 minutes facing a 38-point deficit.
