Impact Carlies, a fifth-round 2025 draft pick, is expected to transition to linebacker after playing safety in college, so any missed time in training camp could slow his development.

Impact Mitchell and Pierce are battling for the No. 3 receiver role in the offense. It's still early in camp, but it's notable that Pierce as the veteran didn't immediately get all the reps with the first unit. Pierce has underwhelmed by averaging just 554 yards and two touchdowns in his two years with the Colts, so there's some risk he could quickly lose playing time to Mitchell, a 2024 second-round pick.

Impact Odeyingbo missed his second consecutive practice as he continues to recover from a calf injury. Once healthy, the 2021 second-round pick is slated to start at defensive end for the Colts, after he compiled 22 tackles (16 solo), with 8.0 sacks, across 17 regular-season games played a season ago.

Impact Odeyingbo is coming off the best season of his three-year career, finishing 2023 with 38 tackles (22 solo), including 8.0 sacks, two passes defended, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 17 regular-season games. Odeyingbo and Kwity Paye are locked in as the Colts' top pass rushers heading into 2024 after Samson Ebukam suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during practice Sunday.

Impact In the wake of his injury, Ebukam is expected to miss this coming season. The 29-year-old is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he led the Colts with a career-high 9.5 sacks in 17 regular-season contests. Per Holder, Ebukam's injury figures to lead to additional snaps for fellow defensive linemen Dayo Odeyingbo and Kwity Paye, who combined for 16.5 sacks last season.

Impact The 2023 second-round pick out of Kansas State played in just nine regular-season games in his rookie campaign due to separate quadriceps and hamstring injuries. He finished the season with 43 tackles (30 solo), six passes defended, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Brents underwent a clean-up procedure on his ankle during the offseason, and after starting things slow in training camp, he looks to be participating at full speed. He is expected to be the top cornerback in the Colts' secondary heading into 2024.

With Jonathan Taylor entrenched as the team's top option, Goodson is in line to compete with Trey Sermon and Evan Hull for depth slotting in Indy's backfield ahead of Week 1.

Impact Pierce missed the final day of mandatory minicamp last month, but it was termed precautionary at the time. The third-year wideout is back on the field and was working with the first-team offense alongside Michael Pittman and Josh Downs, notably ahead of rookie Adonai Mitchell. Pierce has also seen reps as a return man with the new kickoff rule going into effect in 2024.

Ashton Dulin - Back for camp Dulin was spotted working out during Thursday's practice, Jake Arthur of SI.com reports.
Impact The Malone product is continuing to work back from the ACL tear he suffered before the beginning of Indianapolis' 2023 season, but it's a positive sign to see him on the field at all. If the recovery process continues going well for Dulin, he could be a full participant in practices in the near future.

Michael Pittman Jr. - Participating in camp Pittman (knee) participated in Thursday's training camp practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Impact With Pittman past a minor knee issue that he encountered during OTAs, the 26-year-old worked with the Colts' first-team offense (alongside fellow WRs Josh Downs and Alec Pierce) Thursday. As the coming campaign approaches, Pittman is slated to reprise his role as a primary target in an Indy passing attack that will be helmed by promising second-year QB Anthony Richardson. In 16 regular-season contests in 2023, Pittman caught 109 of his 156 targets for 1,152 yards and four TDs. It remains to be seen if the pace of Pittman's volume from last year is sustainable, but it's nonetheless reasonable to expect the 2020 second-rounder to continue to garner enough targets to maintain weekly fantasy utility in 2024.

Anthony Richardson - Won't stop running Coach Shane Steichen said Thursday that he won't hesitate to use Richardson as a runner, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Impact Reporters asked Steichen about limiting Richardson's running to reduce the risk of injuries, following a rookie year marred first by a concussion and then by season-ending shoulder surgery. Steichen said that would be like limiting Steph Curry from shooting three-pointers, and Richardson himself made similar comments suggesting he won't hesitate to use his legs to pick up yards this year. The 22-year-old's combination of size, speed and arm strength is perhaps unmatched in league history, and it looks like he'll have solid group of pass catchers after 2023 third-round pick Josh Downs had a nice rookie season and the Colts added Adonai Mitchell in the second round. The big questions at this point pertain to Richardson's durability and accuracy.
