'Who wouldn't?' Jakobi Meyers wants to stay with the Patriots long-term Meyers is entering his fourth year with the Patriots after they placed a second round tender on the wide receiver.

No serious injury Meyers (undisclosed) said Thursday that his minicamp participation has been limited by "pretty much normal bumps and bruises," Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal reports.

Impact With no serious injury to report, Meyers should be fine for training camp at the end of July. He'll have more competition for targets this year after the Patriots traded for WR DeVante Parker, but the impact of any lost volume could be offset by improved efficiency, especially if QB Mac Jones takes a big step forward in his second NFL season. Meyers seems to expect as much, responding "Capital YES," when reporters asked him Thursday if he sees Jones taking ownership of the New England offense, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. "We're all trying to catch up to what's in his mind, his vision," Meyers said of the 23-year-old Jones.

Impact Meyers was one of a handful of offensive weapons who were limited, but the severity of their injuries remains unknown. The undrafted wideout out of NC State led New England with 83 receptions, 126 targets and 866 yards last season, so the Patriots will likely be extremely cautious with Mac Jones' favorite target.

Impact Meyers led New England's pass catchers in receptions (83), targets (126) and receiving yards (866) to go along with two touchdowns last season, so it's not a major surprise to see the team using the second-round tender. The Patriots will be able to match any offer sheet issued by another team, or they can decline to match and receive a second-round pick.

Impact Per Paul Perillo of the Patriots' official site, Meyers is a pending restricted free agent this offseason, but we'd expect the team to find a way to retain the 25-year-old in 2022. With that in mind, Perillo suggests that a second-round tender probably would facilitate such an outcome. If that happens, Meyers will remain a key cog in a WR corps that also will feature Kendrick Bourne (signed through 2023) and Nelson Agholor (signed through 2022). Beyond that trio, it remains to be seen how the rest of the depth chart will look next season, but it wouldn't surprise to see New England look to add a playmaking wideout in the coming months, be it via trade, free agency or the draft.

Impact Meyers led the team with nine targets, though he was out-produced by Kendrick Bourne. The majority of Meyers' work came with the game well out of reach, though he did tally a 19-yard reception to set up a field goal for New England just before halftime. He was otherwise limited to short gains. Meyers will enter the offseason as a restricted free agent, though after commanding 126 targets and tallying 83 receptions in 2021, it's likely that the Patriots will look to retain him for 2022 and beyond.

Impact Meyers is one of 13 players listed as questionable for the contest by the Patriots, but we'd be surprised if he wasn't available for the team's playoff opener. To be sure, his status should be verified ahead of Saturday night's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but the wideout was on the field for 52 of a possible 62 snaps on offense in Week 18 en route to catching four of his eight targets for 70 yards in a loss to the Dolphins. With no reported setbacks, we suspect that his listed practice limitations this week were maintenance-related.

Still dealing with thigh injury Meyers (thigh) was listed as limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report.

Impact Meyers is operating under the same practice regimen for a third straight week, the result of a hamstring issue. In the final two games of the regular season, he still logged at least 77 percent of the offensive snaps on both occasions, reeling in 12 of 16 targets for 143 yards and one touchdown. Even if his reps continue to be managed Wednesday and Thursday and he enters the weekend as questionable, Meyers doesn't appear to be in danger of sitting out Saturday's wild-card contest in Buffalo.
