Waived by Kansas City The Chiefs are slated to waive Toney on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Impact Toney's arrow appeared to be pointing up back in 2022, when he was traded to Kansas City by the Giants mid-season and made some key plays in the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVII win, but across 13 regular-season appearances in 2023 he was mistake-prone and inconsistent, totaling just a 27-169-1 receiving line. Kansas City's recent addition of JuJu Smith-Schuster, who also played for the team in 2022, seems to have made Toney's roster spot fully redundant as the team cuts down to 53 players. The 2021 first-round pick got some work out of the backfield and on special teams in training camp, and he boasts enough talent that another club could claim him off waivers.
