Brian Burns - Dealing with groin injury Burns was added to the injury report Friday due to a groin injury and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Late-week additions are rarely a good sign, but perhaps Burns has avoided anything serious and will be able to play in 48 hours. Burns is still looking for his first sack as a member of the Giants after being acquired from Carolina over the offseason. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari will have to pick up the slack off the edge for the G-Men if Burns is unable to play. Benton Whitley would be next up for edge reps.

Jalin Hyatt - Requested trade during summer Hyatt requested a trade from the Giants during the summer, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact As Raanan tells it, Hyatt was unhappy with his standing on the depth chart and said during a practice late in the summer that if the team wasn't going to use him, they should trade him. Through two games, Hyatt has ran just 14 pass routes -- seventh-most on the team -- and appears buried just one year after the team used the 73rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on the wideout. Coach Brian Daboll has stressed to Hyatt that his time is coming, but he's running as the distant fourth receiver behind Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton and slot man Wan'Dale Robinson. It wouldn't be a shock to see Hyatt supplant Slayton in the near future, but it's clear Hyatt is frustrated at the moment.

Jalin Hyatt - Serving as No. 4 receiver Hyatt failed to draw a target while playing 12 of the Giants' 56 snaps on offense in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders.
Impact With Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton solidified as the Giants' starting wideout trio, Hyatt has been unable to make much of an impression in the box score through the first two weeks of the season. After failing to secure his lone target in the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Vikings, Hyatt didn't draw any looks from quarterback Daniel Jones in Week 2. Hyatt will likely need one of the aforementioned receivers to miss time before he handles a more meaningful snap count.

Impact Muasau missed the team's Week 2 loss to the Commanders after being unable to get on the practice field all week. His return, albeit limited, Wednesday is a step in the right direction for the rookie out of UCLA. Barring any setbacks, he's likely on the right trajectory to suit up this Sunday against the Browns.

Impact McCloud suffered the injury in Week 1 and was unable to play this past Sunday against the Commanders. As the Giants begin to prep for a Week 3 matchup with the Browns, the Notre Dame product will remain sidelined, He'll likely need to get back on the field in some capacity Thursday, if he's going to play Sunday.

Impact Thibodeaux played a higher percentage of the team's defensive snaps in Week 2 than he did in Week 1, so it's not exactly clear how and when he suffered the injury. However, as New York begins to prep for Sunday's matchup with the Browns, the Oregon product will be considered questionable for the game. His practice status for Thursday and Friday will be worth monitoring and will likely provide better clarity on his chances of suiting up.

Impact After losing out in the battle for the Packers' kicking job following training camp and the preseason, Joseph had to wait just two weeks before getting an opportunity with another team. With the Giants, he'll be serving as a short-term replacement for Graham Gano, who is expected to miss multiple weeks after straining his right hamstring in this past Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. The 30-year-old Joseph has appeared in 51 games with the Browns, Titans and Vikings over parts of five NFL seasons, converting 82.6 percent of his field-goal tries.

Jamie Gillan - Pressed into emergency kicking duty Gillan missed his lone extra-point attempt and punted twice for 87 yards in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders.
Impact After Graham Gano suffered a hamstring injury while chasing down Commanders returner Austin Ekeler on the opening kickoff, Gillan, the Giants' punter, was called upon to replace Gano for both kickoffs and placekicking. Gillan was unable to convert on a point-after try following Devin Singletary's first-quarter touchdown, prompting the Giants to stay away from Gillan on any placekicking opportunities that emerged the rest of the day. According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, head coach Brian Daboll said that Gano will be out for "a few weeks," but the Giants worked out four kickers Monday and will likely sign one or elevate Jude McAtamney from the practice squad to fill in for Gano in the team's Week 3 game in Cleveland.
