Impact Even though Penny was able to practice fully Thursday, the Seahawks evidently aren't convinced that he's fully healthy heading into Sunday's contest. However, unless he experienced a setback coming out of Friday's practice, Penny will most likely be a part of a Week 13 backfield rotation that could include lead ballcarrier Alex Collins (abdomen) and pass-catching specialist Travis Homer (calf), both of whom are listed as questionable. If Seattle has pessimism about at least one of Collins or Penny being available Sunday, the team would likely elevate the newly signed Adrian Peterson from the practice squad to provide a healthier option on early downs.

Behind Collins, though, Penny, Homer and DeeJay Dallas are healthy, while Adrian Peterson and undrafted rookie Josh Johnson are on the practice squad. It remains to be seen who among those five may be the No. 2 RB on Sunday against the 49ers.

Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned either way because Penny has just 17 carries for 43 yards (2.5 YPC) through four appearances this year.

Impact Penny was phased out of the game plan in Seattle's Week 10 loss to the Packers after he mustered only 16 yards on 13 carries in his first two contests upon returning from a five-week absence due to a calf injury. Fortunately for Penny, No. 1 back Alex Collins (3.3 yards per carry) hasn't performed much better on a larger sample of totes over the past three games, so there could be an opportunity for the 2018 first-round pick to move up the depth chart if he's able to capitalize on more of his chances beginning in Week 11. At the very least, both Penny and Collins should have a longer runway to compete for reps after Carroll announced Friday that the team's top back to open the campaign, Chris Carson, is headed for season-ending neck surgery.

Impact Penny finished second on the team in carries behind Alex Collins (10), but he was brutally inefficient for the second straight week. In Week 7, he gained nine yards on six carries. Perhaps he's still getting back into the groove after a long injury layoff, but it's equally as likely that he's not the player the Seahawks thought they drafted in the first round back in 2018. He'll likely be a change-of-pace back again in Week 10 against the Packers.
