Returns to practice Penny (calf) took part in Thursday's practice, signaling that the Seahawks have designated him for a return from injured reserve, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Impact The 25-year-old was back on the field for the first time since Sept. 12, when he injured his calf in the Seahawks' season-opening win over the Colts. According to Ty Dane Gonzalez of SI.com, Penny was a full participant in the portion of Thursday's practice that was open to the media, which seemingly bodes well for the running back making good on head coach Pete Carroll's prediction that he'll be available to play Monday against the Saints. Meanwhile, Chris Carson (neck) is stuck on IR through Week 9, and the next man up out of the backfield, Alex Collins (groin) didn't practice Thursday and is uncertain to suit up this week. As such, Penny could find himself with a decent-sized workload Week 7, assuming the Seahawks are comfortable reinstating him from IR prior to Saturday's deadline for roster moves
