Impact Per Harbaugh, the status of Ali -- who suffered a reported stinger in the Ravens' preseason opener -- is iffy for the team's regular-season opener, Sept. 5 against the Chiefs. With fellow RB Owen Wright having suffered a broken foot Saturday, the Ravens' backfield depth behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill is currently taxed. As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see Baltimore address the situation before, during or after initial roster cut-downs.

Impact A stinger had prevented Ali from participating in practice since the Ravens' preseason opener, but the 2024 fifth-rounder's return to the field Tuesday should allow him to resume competing for a depth role in Baltimore's backfield behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill. Ali's primary competition on that front is Owen Wright, who originally joined the team as an undrafted free agent last May.

He then missed Saturday's preseason win over the Falcons, with Owen Wright getting the start at running back in a game that saw the Ravens hold out a slew of veterans players, including Derrick Henry and Justice Hill. Baltimore took Ali in the fifth round of this year's draft, so he could stick around even if the team didn't see what it was hoping for this summer.

Misses practice Sunday Ali did not practice Sunday while dealing wtih an undisclosed injury, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The rookie fifth-round pick posted 10 carries and one catch and returned one kickoff during this preseason opener, so it's unclear when or how this injury occurred. Harbaugh also mentioned that the 23-year-old rookie might be placed in concussion protocol, though he appeared unsure about this and did not delve into any specifics other than saying that the issue was not serious. Either way, Ali will have a little under a week to return to practice before the next preseason game against Atlanta on Saturday.

Ali, a fifth-round pick in the 2024 Draft, took over in the third quarter but managed only 30 scrimmage yards on 11 touches to Wright's 50 yards on eight touches. With Keaton Mitchell (knee) also expected to be ahead of Ali in the pecking order once he's healthy, the rookie would appear to have a lot of work to do to put himself in position to have fantasy value in 2024.

Over biceps injury Ali (biceps) participated in Monday's training camp practice, Ryan Mink and Matt Ryan of the Ravens' official website reports.

Impact Ali was injured at the Senior Bowl leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft but is all systems go for the start of camp in Baltimore. Taken 165th overall out of Marshall, Ali is competing for a roster spot behind the likes of Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell (knee, PUP). Ali figures to see heavy preseason usage this summer.
