Niners' Anthony Davis planning comeback for 2016 season?

Published Aug. 10, 2015 2:57 p.m. ET

In a sudden surprise this offseason, Anthony Davis decided to step away from the game due to health concerns.

Prior to playing in every contest during his first four years in San Francisco, Davis missed nine games in 2014 due to nagging injuries and a concussion.

"After a few years of thought, I've decided it will be best for me to take a year or so away from the NFL," Davis said in a statement at the time. "This will be a time for me to allow my Brain and Body a chance to heal."

Now, though, it appears he's already thinking of a comeback next fall.

Davis interacted with a fan on Twitter inquiring whether he could come back next year and responded: "Yes."

This would be positive news if Davis follows through on his word, both for the 49ers and an offensive line searching for an identity heading into 2015.
