Amani Toomer: Scherff is built in same mold as Chris Snee

Published Apr. 28, 2015 10:08 a.m. ET

Amani Toomer finished his career with the New York Giants as the team's all-time leading wide receiver in receiving yards, receptions, receiving touchdowns, and most consecutive games with at least one reception (94). If you expected him to predict that the Giants would take a wide receiver with the No. 9 overall pick in this Thursday's 2015 NFL Draft, you were wrong.

Toomer broke down some of the Giants' team needs and different prospects at each position before predicting that the team would select offensive lineman Brandon Scherff out of the University of Iowa.

"Scherff has that versatility that Jerry Reese really likes in an offensive lineman," Toomer told John Schmeelk of Giants.com. Also, with the retirement of Chris Snee, this is a guy built right out of that same mold. A real aggressive, physical guy, who finishes plays."
