Julio Jones surpasses Roddy White for team record in Week 15 win

The Atlanta Falcons not only ended a brutal six-game losing streak by defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15, but they saw their top receiver etch his name in the team record book. On one of his nine catches during the victory, a 12-yard catch in the third quarter, Jones surpassed teammate Roddy White for most catches in a single season in franchise history.

Via Vaughn Mcclure of ESPN, White held the previous record with 115 catches, and also has an outside chance at breaking the single-season record for most receptions in the NFL. That record is currently held by Marvin Harrison, who caught 143 back in 2002.

After the game, Jones is left with 118 catches on the year, meaning he would need 26 total catches over the next two games to break the record. Atlanta is still alive in the playoff hunt, so regardless, we should expect Jones to be a major factor in their gameplan on a weekly basis over the final two games.
