Ravens' Harbaugh: This season a 'cannonball to the gut'

John Harbaugh is experiencing the pain of his first losing season as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens.

Harbaugh called Sunday's 35-6 loss to Seattle his team's worst performance of the season by far. Unfortunately for Harbaugh, it was the latest in a long string of defeats that he's never experienced as a head coach. The Ravens, currently at 4-9, will finish with their worst record during Harbaugh's eight-year tenure.

Harbaugh isn't the only one feeling the pain in Baltimore. The team now has 18 players on season-ending injured reserve, including stars Joe Flacco, Steve Smith Sr. and Terrell Suggs.

With the Ravens eliminated from playoff contention, Harbaugh is already turning the page toward next season, and will use the team's remaining three games to evaluate everyone on his roster.

“In my mind, next year’s season has already begun," Harbaugh said. "We’re developing these guys. We’re developing what we’re going to be next year. So, let’s go, man. Let’s see how good we can get."

"We're going through a real painful, tough season. It just sticks in your craw. It's like having a cannonball in your gut. That's how we feel right now. We just cannot find a way to pull ourselves out of this. "
