Report: Bills lose LB Ty Powell to torn ACL in Monday's practice
Monday's practice for the Buffalo Bills was a rough one on the injury front. Wide receiver and track star Marquise Goodwin left practice with heat-related issues after he collapsed on the sidelines. And while losing Goodwin for a short period of time is bad enough, the injury linebacker Ty Powell suffered is even worse.
Powell was carted off the field with a knee injury, which was later confirmed to be a torn ACL, according to ProFootballTalk.
Losing Powell for the season is devastating for the depth at linebacker. He was projected to be the backup middle linebacker to Preston Brown. Any other injuries to the starting linebacker group will be tough to overcome.
This news comes just a few days after defensive end Jairus Wynn suffered a torn ACL in the team's first preseason game, sidelining him for the season as well.
The Bills have already begun bringing in reinforcements for the two injured defenders. Linebackers Marcus Benard and Quentin Groves, and defensive lineman Red Bryant are working out for the Bills on Monday.
