Burfict took extra shot at Roethlisberger's shoulder
By Larry Brown
Vontaze Burfict was up to his old, dirty tricks during Saturday’s wild-card playoff game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Not only is the Bengals linebacker facing a suspension for his dirty hit on Antonio Brown that helped set up Pittsburgh’s game-winning field goal, but the league may also want to examine what he did to Ben Roethlisberger.
Burfict had a hard hit on Roethlisberger late in the game that injured the Steelers quarterback. Burfict drove Big Ben’s right shoulder into the turf, but video shows he also kneed Roethlisberger’s shoulder after getting him to the ground. Watch it here.
Burfict’s conduct towards Roethlisberger should not at all surprise you. A few weeks ago, Burfict went low on Big Ben with a hit (watch here) and Roethlisberger said he thought it was intentional.
Burfict also has a reputation for his dirty play. In the past he has been fined for maliciously grabbing and twisting the ankles of players once he has them on the ground.
It’s one thing to deliver hard hits to your opponents, but it’s a complete other to take cheap shots at them once you have them on the ground. The latter is what Burfict tends to do.
