J.J. Watt apologizes following shutout loss to Chiefs
J.J. Watt is one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL, so talented that he's even occasionally used on offense and scored a few touchdowns.
But he doesn't play quarterback — at least not well. He's not impervious to injury. And his team, the Houston Texans, gave up 30 points to the Kansas City Chiefs while scoring zero in their wild-card playoff loss Saturday.
And so Watt felt compelled to apologize after the game.
Watt missed most of the second half after injuring his groin in the third quarter. Last season's Defensive Player of the Year and the NFL sack leader didn't have a sack on Saturday as Houston's defense played well but couldn't hold off an offense that got so many extra chances because of QB Brian Hoyer's terrible day.
Watt injured his groin midway through the third quarter. He returned after a few plays but soon left the game again when he was pushed to the ground by the head by tackle Eric Fisher.
"That's just a dirty play," Watt said. "But the injury was before that moment."
One particular fan felt Watt and the Texans have nothing to hang their heads about.
