Laremy Tunsil's attorney says damning text messages were 'taken out of context'
Laremy Tunsil's attorney tried to downplay the text messages posted Thursday to the former Ole Miss offensive tackle's Instagram account, which alleged the first-round pick asked for money from a school staff member.
"My information is that issue, in and of itself, has already been discussed previously with the NCAA and there was nothing to it," Tunsil's attorney Steve Farese said on Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM, via The Clarion-Ledger. "Once the truth comes out about that text, and I hate to make a pun, but the text is taken out of context. And once it is found out what this is all about, it will be much to do about nothing."
Tunsil, who was taken with the 13th pick Thursday by the Miami Dolphins, admitted after the draft to receiving money from Ole Miss while playing there. Tunsil slipped to the Dolphins after a video was posted shortly before the draft started on his Twitter account showing him smoking from a gas mask bong.
Ole Miss released a statement early Friday morning saying that it would "aggressively investigate and fully cooperate with the NCAA and the SEC."
Tunsil served a seven game suspension at the start of last season for impermissible benefits.
